Let’s make SEPAL great again for the NEETS!

We have the pleasure to announce you that we have successfully started the SEPAL PRO project, on the 1st of February 2022, under the auspices of the European Year of Youth, which aims at empowering young people around Europe. After three years of a productive and efficient transnational partnership (October 2018 – October 2021) between five organizations from Romania, Spain, Lithuania, Greece, and Poland, we have decided to continue this collaboration and to make SEPAL great again for the NEETs.

In this regard, the Lead Partner – Bucovina Institute (Romania) alongside the Beneficiary Partners from  Pere Closa Private Foundation (Spain), ZISPB – Human Resources Monitoring and Development Bureau (Lithuania), KoiSPE Diadromes (Greece), and Collegium Balticum (Poland) gave the official start of the project through an online meeting during which an overview of our previous and future steps, approaching management aspects, but also the results obtained in the past and proposed for the next two years.

Supporting Employment Platform through Apprenticeship Learning – PRO version, as we like to call it, will be carried out for a period of two years (February 2022 – January 2024), its aim being to offer, during 24 months, tailored employment support services for 300 NEETs from five European countries, aged between 18 and 29 years old, based on the SEPAL model, in order to combat the social exclusion of the youth and, implicitly, to help them to access the labor market. Our target group consists in young people coming from different vulnerable groups: young people with physical or mental disabilities, Roma people, migrants, low skilled and those who dropped out of school.

To successfully achieve the results, SEPAL Pro will develop and use the WISE (Work Integration Social Enterprise), and the LSC models, having at the same time, three new and innovative parts:

  • to support coaching on the job places by specializing the local mentors;
  • to provide basic ICT trainings for 200 NEETs and to focus on placing 300 NEETs on the labor market, in three different sectors: health, crafts and small entrepreneurship, by collaborating with Local Stakeholders and promote learning on the job measures;
  • enhance cooperation with representatives from other projects financed through this call to define a system for skills certification.

According to our last statistical report concerning the situation of the NEETs, we can proudly announce that we had 1.425 young people registered on our platform, among which 1.289 were in the target group (24-29 years old). 445 NEETs from Romania, Spain, Lithuania, Greece, and Poland benefited from employment support services during 36 months of implementation, namely 43 migrants, 124 low skilled, 56 with disabilities, 73 from the Roma communities, and 149 at risk of poverty.

We are confident and optimistic that during the next two years, the SEPAL team will follow again the path to success. To plan in detail our future steps, during 24th– 26th of March 2022, the partners from KoiSPE Diadromes will host the first face-to-face management meeting within the SEPAL Pro project, seeing each other in Glyfada, Greece.
