Below some of the activities of the Blue Generation Project:
On 3rd March 2021, the first blueTALK was held in Greece by Militos Consulting S.A in the frames of Blue Generation Project, with the participation of keynote speakers: Dr. E. Kyriazopoulos (Secretary General, Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy), Dr. E. Nikolaidis (Assistant Professor, Dept of Maritime Transport & Commerce, Frederick University, Cyprus) and M. Giannetou (Communication Manager, Junior Achievement Greece). Young participants had the opportunity to ask questions and received responses with valuable information and guidance towards pursuing a career in Blue Economy.
Few of the key points raised by the panelists
- 200€ entry salary for junior engineer on a Greek tanker
- growing demand for specialized personnel in port management, underwater works, ship building and coastal tourism
- increasing women presence in merchant navy, worldwide
- the value of job counselling in innovative industries, such as securityin maritime telecom
- the youth entrepreneurship potential in Blue Economy
BlueTALKS is yet another innovative initiative by Militos Consulting S.A.to raise awareness and inform young people on job opportunities in the rapidly growing sector of the Blue Economy.
On 12th March 2021 FRSP took part in in the webinar series “Unwind in the Spring” organized by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland. We conducted a webinar on employment opportunities in Blue Economy sectors for the students.
