Social Innovators project represents the link between young people and the NGO sector. In many European countries, young university graduates face difficulties in finding suitable and quality employment. On the other hand, the non-governmental sector, which is a driver of social change in our society, is facing low employability. By connecting the two, we all stand to gain. In the non-governmental sector across Slovenia, Bulgaria and Croatia, young people will gain work experience and get involved in initiatives and programs that address current societal challenges in Europe. As a result, they will also gain knowledge and opportunities to create jobs for themselves in the social sector in which their knowledge is crucial for further development. This way, the non-governmental sector will gain people that will enable it to continue to carry out its mission of making the world a better place. The key activities of the Social Innovators project are:
- 150 h training programme for 450 graduates from the social sciences and the humanities;
- 1-month NGO-based learning or NGO-based distance learning for in total 320 NEETs;
- Establishment of 3 meeting points for generating concrete ideas for projects and initiatives with social impact and potential for generating new employment;
- Exploring possibilities for developed approaches to be mainstreamed into youth employment/social innovation policies.
The project has almost achieved its set goals and reached more than 200,000 young people, which is an exceptional success, meanwhile, the final aim of the project is to empower NEETs in the creation in total of 125 jobs.
